This creates momentum and intensifying competition among charging point operators (CPOs) and e-mobility service providers (eMSPs). Those who want to be successful in the long term must make data-based decisions and continuously review their strategy. An important basis for this is provided by the current <strong>USCALE Charging Services Study 2025<\/strong>, which examined the behaviour of 2,210 EV drivers in Germany in detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A key finding: the most important KPI for CPOs and eMSPs remains utilisation \u2013 the utilisation of charging points. This is precisely where it will be decided who will keep up in the future and who will lose market share.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Market share in 2025: Big Oil on the rise<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The industry is navigating. This is particularly evident in the market shares of the various provider groups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Oil companies <\/strong>are increasing their share of the charging market from 13 to 21 per cent \u2013 a massive increase in just one year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Traditional <strong>energy suppliers <\/strong>and <strong>pure CPOs <\/strong>are coming under pressure. CPOs and eMSPs must keep track of the changes and keep a close eye on their own position and that of their competitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Target group dynamics: Who appeals to whom?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With the entry of new EV adopter segments, new user groups are entering the market. The study shows the consequences this has for providers&#8217; market shares. One example is age differences:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Energy suppliers <\/strong>are attractive to all age groups (but especially to traditionalists). At first glance, this is a good thing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mineral oil suppliers<\/strong>, on the other hand, are increasingly attracting younger EV drivers \u2013 presumably due to their familiar brand world and strong physical presence along the roads. But caution is advised: only 4% of motorists in Germany have already switched to an EV. The switch by the remaining 96% will be significantly influenced by the price level. <strong>CPOs and eMSPs must therefore maintain a balance between profitability and market attractiveness.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>NPS: Low satisfaction among EV drivers<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Satisfaction with charging services is low. But not all of them are used with the same frequency: the preferred charging service usually accounts for more than half of the revenue. All the others share the rest. This increases the pressure on providers to define a clear USP in order to prevail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The example in the image shows selected reasons for using the two providers IONITY and Aral pulse. From the customer&#8217;s point of view, the two providers are clearly positioned \u2013 in this case diametrically opposed. This leads to <strong>a lack of transparency and confusion <\/strong>among clients. As a result, the brand is taking on a new significance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The example in the image illustrates brand perception in the German market:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>EnBW is clearly perceived as the market leader by EV drivers.
